Sunday October 8, we will begin a new worship series, We Live We Love. About the series:

“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” — John 13:34

The struggle with right relationship is a human theme that we’ve been dealing with ever since we were “humans.” To live is to love — no way around it! These themes cross boundaries of time and geography and we also find them in some of the most ancient stories of our Judeo-Christian tradition. How are we to deal with human frailty and the ways in which our fear shows up in difficult relationships?

According to the SpringHouse Covenant; Children’s Ministry is led by a standing Child Ministries Team, made up of representation from each SpringHouse congregation. This team is responsible for imagining what ministry for children from nursery age through elementary school looks like in
the midst of our community. This includes the nursery, Sunday ministry, special events, and cross-congregational and/or generational content or experiences.

As we continue to navigate what ministry, as a whole, looks like on this side of the pandemic, we also need to envision what ministry with our youngest members can look like moving forward. The same few people from each congregation have been serving on the Child Ministries Team for many years and we need some new members to help us move forward.

What does being on the Child Ministries Team entail? Members of this team commit to:

  • Occasional meetings (can be in person and/or Zoom meetings)
  • Working with a team of 2 people from each congregation and any paid staff that are part of
    the team
  • Dreaming about what ministry with children can look like and what we want it to look like
  • Helping to make strategic decisions and plans about nursery care, Sunday School, and
    other parts of children’s ministry
  • Helping name/find adult volunteers from their respective congregations (which may or may
not include themselves) to help lead/supervise any programming implemented

Qualifications for the Child Ministries Team:

  • A love of children and commitment to SpringHouse and its joint ministry
  • Willingness to learn and imagine what being church for our youngest members looks like
  • Willingness to engage in naming/encouraging volunteers
  • Helping to implement plans coming out of the team
Special Note: One does NOT need to have children to be on this team. One also does not need to
commit to teaching/supervising Sunday School or events themselves. This is a team that envisions
what ministry can look like and dreams, plans, and implements plans for ministry, including helping
    name/recruit adult volunteers.
