We´re not asking for your money, we´re just asking you to spend it a little differently than you normally would. Before heading to the store to do your everyday shopping, pick up a gift card from us. The mission fund will get a percentage of the sale while you still spend the amount you normally would have. Cards are available for many different restaurants, gas stations, stores, and even travel and entertainment sources.

Sounds great, how do I help?
There are several ways to participate in this fundraiser:
For the “computer challenged”: Pick up an order form at church to let us know which cards you would like, and in what amounts.

Online: Visit ShopWithScrip.com
enter our code: BF16DF4B443L6  –  and create an account.
There you can see all of the card options available and submit your order.
Pay the church, and we will deliver your card(s) to you at church.

Gift cards are great for:
*   Teacher appreciation
*   Father´s Day gifts
*   Graduates
*   Wedding gifts
*   Baby showers

Thanks for helping us support SpringHouse missions!

Join us Sunday mornings at 9:15 am beginning June 14 for our summer book study.  We will be reading Christianity After Religion by Diana Butler Bass.  Her book exposed how the failings of the church today are giving rise to a new “spiritual but not religious” movement, using evidence from the latest national polls from her own cutting-edge research.  Pastor Dan will order 8 copies of the book.

Beginning June 1, the SpringHouse office will be staffed as follows:

Tuesdays: 10 am – 2 pm
Wednesdays: 1 pm – 4 pm
Thursdays: 10 am – 2 pm

Staff will be around at other times, but the administrators have committed to covering these hours.  Rick and Deb will be here most weekdays, but those hours will vary.  If you need to be in the building, contact Deb to make sure it will be open or to make arrangements.

Our formal Children’s Christian Education programming takes a break for the summer, but we still offer something that we call Art of the Covenant. From May 31-August 30, Deb Murphy and a volunteer or two will be in the Sunday School Hall 9:30-10:15 am to do art projects that go along with a variety of Bible stories.  Other fun programming is being considered – we’ll keep you posted!

Hey kids (and parents)!  Day Camp will be here sooner than you think!  June 22-26, 9 am-4pm, for 4 year old thru just having finished 6th grade.  This year’s theme is Caught Up in Creation.  Spread the invitation to participate in day camp this summer!  Adult and youth volunteers are needed – contact Deb Murphy if you are interested.

This past Sunday, the congregation of University Lutheran Church of Hope in southeast Minneapolis voted to call Pastor Jen as their Lead Pastor. After nearly 12 years of ministry at Salem, Pastor Jen feels the Spirit taking her this new direction and she will conclude her ministry at Salem on Sunday, June 28. Linked here are two letters: One is from Pastor Jen sharing this decision; the other is from Salem’s Executive Committee explaining what will come next.  Please read them over and feel free to be in touch with questions. Salem’s journey into SpringHouse Ministry Center and our transformation is Spirit-led. We trust the same Holy Spirit to continue to lead us into this new season of ministry.

In Christ,
Salem Executive Committee-Linda Hanson, Antone Melton-Meaux, Josh Jorstad, and Kate Rime

We join them in the grief of a goodbye and the gratitude for Pastor Jen’s faithful ministry.

Sean Cackoski, son of Mike & Kirsten Cackoski, was awarded the prestigious Rider University President’s Award on May 2.

The President’s Award is presented to graduating seniors who have demonstrated an exemplary record of academic achievement, extra-curricular activity and service to the University. The highly competitive selection process is led by the dean of students and supported by faculty and staff. Three students were honored with the President’s Award this year.

Cackoski earned impressive academic honors, achieving a 3.9 GPA with a major in theatre performance and a minor in dance. “Receiving the President’s Award as a theater major is a reminder to me and to my colleagues that the work we do in the theatre and the sacrifices we make to do it are recognized and applauded by the broader community,” he says. “Art is an essential part of the human experience and this award accentuates its significance.”

While at Rider, Cackoski had the opportunity to study abroad twice. First, he traveled to London and Paris of the 2013 Arts Abroad trip during the winter term and the following year, he returned to London for a semester with the CAPA program. Because he enjoyed his journeys abroad so much, he applied to graduate school in Paris. Upon graduation, he will move to France to study at the prestigious L’École International de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, a school that has graduated the likes of actor Geoffrey Rush, playwright and actor Steven Berkoff, and theatre and opera director Sophie Hunter.

Congratulations Sean!

This year’s Stewardship Campaign theme is “It’s A Wonder-FULL Life” based on the holiday movie “It’s A Wonderful Life”. The campaign starts October 6 and will culminate on Stewardship Sunday, November 10. Stay tuned as you’ll be hearing about it in various ways in worship as we move through October, and you’ll also be receiving a letter in the mail in early November.
