DESCRIPTION:Over Martin Luther King (MLK) week\, Pastor Laurie\, as part of the Downtown Interfaith Senior Clergy\, traveled to Atlanta\, Birmingham\, Selma\, and Montgomery for an interfaith civil rights journey. Highlights of the trip included: \nAttending the National Beloved Community MLK Remembrance Service at Ebenzer Baptist Church in Atlanta where Bryan Stephenson\, author of “Just Mercy” presented the keynote address\nWalked the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma\nMemorialized the innocent children killed at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham\nVisited the new Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery\nBore witness at the myriad of powerful museums and monuments paying homage to the leaders and foot soldiers of the Civil Rights Movement\nThe Senior Clergy group is bringing their pilgrimage back to Minneapolis to share the lessons and insights gleaned on this remarkable multi-faith journey. \nPlease join Pastor Laurie and the rest of the clergy group for a series of three presentations of the trip\, and for panel discussions and worship to commemorate the convergence of Ramadan\, Passover and Easter on three consecutive Sundays in March from 4:30-5:00 p.m. \nMarch 19 at Westminster Presbyterian (12th & Marquette\, Minneapolis): video premiere and panel discussion

DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Sunday evening\, March 19\, for our next UMW AR/PR Action Team Event: Womanist Theology\nRegistration Is Required – click here to register\nPresenter: Minister DeShay Jackson \nDeShay Jackson (They/Them) serves as Minister of Music and Worship Arts for The Gathering\, A Womanist Church\, in Dallas\, Texas. They hold a Master’s In Divinity from Brite Divinity School with certificates in Black Church Studies and Gender/Sexual Justice and a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Culver-Stockton College. Their narrative work can be read in Colors of Hope: A Devotional Journal from LGBTQ+ Christians\, published by Chalice Media Group and watched on Season 3 Episode 1 of HBO’s Were Here\, as one of the drag kids. \nDeShay has performed with a host of instrumental and vocal ensembles in spaces such as the Washington National Cathedral in Washington\, D.C.\, and Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth\, TX\,. During their time at Brite Divinity\, they served as vice-moderator for the Brite Black Seminarians and served on the chapel worship committee as music liaison\, worship leader\, and student vocal ensemble director.\nDeShay utilizes a Womanist viewpoint to explore the intersections of theology\, spirituality\, Black queerness\, music\, and cuisine.
