Available for 0-2 during the Sunday School hour (as well as Worship) in the Children’s Gathering Area (lower level of SpringHouse).
Children’s Sunday School
Children 3 years old and up are invited to participate in Sunday School. First Christian shares our Sunday School program with Lyndale United Church of Christ and Salem English Lutheran Church. Students and teachers are drawn from all three congregations.
Sunday School starts at 9:20 in the Squiggle Space (formerly known as Welcome Hall on the Lower Level)
Theme: Water: WOW!
Using the rotation Sunday School model, we focus on a Bible story for 3 week blocks, exploring the story from a different vantage point each week. We rotate between arts, science, drama, cooking, outside experiences, and other possibilities. We use the SPARK Story Bible for our younger children.
We close out our time together each week with music.
During the summer months there is an optional Sunday School program called Art of the Covenant which meets at 9:15am.
Children in Worship
Children are welcomed and encouraged to join us in worship. We offer an activity table staffed by the Director of Spiritual Formation for Children & Youth and other parent volunteers (located in various places depending on which sanctuary we are in).
Junior High and High School gather weekly in Micah on Sunday mornings for Sunday School. As with the younger kids, the youth of the three churches are getting to know one another well and have formed an always-evolving and fun-loving group. Sunday mornings include discussions and activities that tend to focus around faith and current life issues.
Other activities include lock-ins (as many as possible), service projects, a youth led worship service, summer camp, preparing Easter breakfast, and plenty more.
Additionally, our Open Table LGBTQA Partnership provides leadership opportunities and social space for LGBTQA youth, ages 11-18, through community partnerships, as well as resource information for LGBTQA youth and their families. Learn more
